Natural Horsemanship

Welcome to Flyin B Ranch

Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains near Knoxville, TN, we have been operating a successful colt starting facility using a more gentle approach toward horses, Preserving their dignity, self respect, and pride.                  Our motto has become;

Leadership through Trust

Partnership through Leadership

Trust, Partnership, and Leadership through

Love, Understanding, and Communication

Communication is the key principle in our training.  We have realized that most problems in horses have been the direct result of a communication breakdown. People do not realize that every time they are with their horse they are sending signals that are a form of communication.

As our success grew people began bringing "problem" horses to us. Phone calls started coming in from people needing us to come to their farm to help them with their equine partners.

Since that time, we have had to put colts on waiting lists.  I feel that aside from a colt being started, it is the people, and people with their horses that need the most help.   We still start colts, but only a limited number, so that each horse and their owner receive the attention to detail that they deserve.

We offer lessons at Flyin B in Natural Horsemanship, as well as conduct clinics and symposiums in various cities. In conjunction with rodeo events, we hold seminars on Natural horsemanship and equine communication.  We also find ourselves on numerous farms conducting private lessons for horse owners and their barn employees, making clear that each time you are “handling” a horse you are in fact delivering some sort of communication to the horse whether positive or negative. Our job is to help you “speak” Equus. Below is a list of clinics or symposiums that Mike holds. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in hosting one in your area.

Getting Started Naturally; taking the next step….. (A comprehensive look at what to do with our young colt after the round pen)

 We are on the road a lot to do demonstrations at DOI/ BLM mustang adoption sites, where many times Mike has successfully saddled wild mustangs inside of an hour. But most importantly his job there is to answer questions and help new adopters to better understand their new partner.

Mike has been asked to be on the board of directors for a new organization that will bring natural horsemanship enthusiasts together, the “American Association of Natural Horsemen”, where he also serves as the product specialist.
